This meeting resulted in a roadmap to work on various aspects that urge the Department.
More spaces for recreation and sport is the commitment that the current administration has with children, young people and sportsmen of the island.
Therefore, in order to guarantee scenarios for the healthy recreation of the community, the Secretary of Sports and Recreation, together with the Department of Infrastructure, made the delivery of two parks in the sectors of San Luis and Hill.
For the Secretary in charge of Sports and Recreation, Erlid Arroyo Newball, these
scenarios which are built with materials of the highest quality, will guarantee entertainment, exercise and fun for the inhabitants of Hopphie and Barkers Hill.
«We are delivering two parks, which, with the collaboration of the National Navy, could make the repairs. The Government provided all the materials so that the community can have a place for recreation. This is more than everything for the children.
They look happy and they already have a place where they can have fun,»said Arroyo Newball.
According to the official in charge of the Secretariat, the goal is that these fun scenarios become platforms to introduce children to sports.
«At the Sports Secretariat, we know that an important pillar is the recreational aspect and not only sports. So, what better way it is to encourage children, who are the ones who have the option of doing different activities and not waste their time in other activities which do not generate improvement to their quality of life,» added the Secretary in charge of Sports and Recreation.
For its part, the Secretary of Infrastructure, Ninosthka Hudgson Hernandez explained that within the development plan for this administration, was established the need to recover 14 parks in the sectors North-End, San Luis, and Hill.
«We started the recovery of the parks in 2018 through the Sports Secretariat, with resources from the Secretariat of Infrastructure. With the partnership between the Secretariats of Social Development and Culture, we have raised awareness in the community for interaction in the parks.
The idea is that, once the parks are recovered, they are handed over to the leaders or presidents of the Community Action Boards so that there is continuity or follow-up in the protection of the scenario, «said the secretary.
So far, recreational parks have been delivered in the sectors of Natania, Barrio Obrero, on the Hill, Barrack, Hopphie, and with Barkers Hill, is the seventh Park completed by the current administration.
For Sunday, February 3, the Local Government together with the National Navy and the Departmental Police, plan to make the delivery of three other parks in various neighborhoods of the island. Also, Hugdson Hernandez announced that they are planning the construction of other spaces in new areas.
«The National Police of the Department wants to make the delivery of new parks.
The Secretariat of Infrastructure is studying the possible places where they could manage the scenarios and are waiting for the pronouncement of the institution to begin the development and subsequent delivery of these new parks,» concluded the Infrastructure Secretary.
Finally, the Sports Secretariat guarantees that it will continue to promote the creation of more recreational spaces on the island to achieve the ultimate goal that is the integral development of children and young people.
